Wine Xidi addon version last published 2 days, 22 hours agoInstall Xidi for Modern Controller supportKnown issues:
- Does not work with all Controllers. Specifically Controllers that are not natively using XInput, such as the DualShock 4. Should work with most Controllers marketed as PC or Xbox however.
- As of August 2026, does not work on the Steam Deck and makes the game unplayable when starting a race. Cause unknown.
- Once installed, Keyboard input is unavailable in races. This is a limitation of the game when a Controller is detected and Xidi always presents a Controller to the game to enable hot-plug functionality for games that don't natively support it.
If your Controller is not working or you just want to revert to Keyboard input:
1. Right-click the game -> Browse files -> drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/Need For Speed High Stakes
2. Delete dinput.dll, dinput8.dll, winmm.dll, Xidi.32.dll, Xidi.HookModule.32.dll, and Xidi.ini
3. Rename dinput.dll.bak to dinput.dll
4. Remove the DLL override: Right-click the game -> Configure -> Runner options -> DLL overrides -> Select and Delete

Rally driving takes to the high road! Choose a Pininfarina-styled Ferrari 550 Marinello, a rear-drive coupe that will slide over the tarmac like a hot knife through butter. Take a fast car on some of the fastest roads in Europe, and past some of the slowest drivers.
With all the hazards of the ordinary roads, but with all the excitement of high-powered rallying, this takes the Need for Speed series to new roads and new adventures.
It may start out as a sunny afternoon pleasure drive, but once you find out what the Ferrari can do, you won't want to hang around.
Whether you're racing against an opponent, or simply trying to beat your own personal best, the need for challenge will grip you tighter than your seatbelt in an emergency stop. Not that stopping is recommended. Not with this one. Race to a new dimension.
